Serie A: Pedro makes history in Rome

The last time a player moved between Roma and Lazio was in 1981. The player in question was Carlo Perrone who swapped the Biancocelesti for the Giallorossi,

Over 40 years later, Pedro Rodriguez has officially made the reverse move, taking the No.9 jersey at Lazio after spending just one season at Roma.

As per the Italian press, the Spanish forward arrived as a free agent, and is to be paid the same salary as he was at Jose Mourinho’s Roma, after he was not in the Portuguese coach’s plans for the 2021/22 campaign.

Back under Sarri

Pedro will be reunited with coach Maurizio Sarri, whom he worked under at Chelsea until 2019.

The Italian tactician is well aware of Pedro‘s potential, and how he can cover the field as an offensive winger, which Lazio are currently lacking.

It has been reported that both clubs are happy with the deal, mainly for financial reasons, despite such a move being traditionally disliked by the fans of both clubs, who have a fierce rivalry.
