According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Christian Eriksen is undergoing continuous heart checks and could return to action next season, but not at Inter.
Five months ago today, Eriksen’s career and life changed forever as he collapsed on the pitch during Denmark-Finland following a heart attack.
He was given life-saving aid on the pitch before being stabilised in the hospital, where he had a heart restarter implanted a few days later.
The former Tottenham star can’t play in Serie A with such a device implanted.
Italian authorities do not allow to play any contact sport with a heart defibrillator implanted as any contact or hit could break the device.
He can’t even train in a regular gym because he wouldn’t get the green light from doctors. That’s why, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Eriksen has now returned to Denmark, where he has visited a heart specialist and where he has begun a rehab program.

All the exams undergone by the player over the last five months haven’t highlighted any permanent problem to his heart, which could be good or bad news because, on paper, what happened five months ago has no explanation yet.
Eriksen will undergo regular medical tests over the last few months and if no problems emerge, he could increase the workload from the beginning of 2022.
According to the report, the fact that Eriksen is visiting specialists in Denmark and not in Italy suggests he is not planning to return to action in Serie A.
His salary at Inter is covered by FIFA insurance and the Nerazzurri directors haven’t yet planned a meeting with the player’s agent regarding his future.
They are on good terms with the player and his entourage and willing to find the best solution for the Denmark international.
La Gazzetta suggests Ajax or Odense could be his next destinations, but it is still too early to make predictions about Eriksen’s future.
